Dr. Zafar Gill is a highly skilled and compassionate retinal specialist with a strong academic and clinical background. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he graduated from the prestigious College of Honors, publishing multiple scientific papers during his time there. Dr. Gill then pursued his medical education at New York Medical College, graduating at the top of his class and earning the esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) distinction for his exceptional academic performance.
Following medical school, Dr. Gill advanced his training at the renowned Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center at the University of Colorado, where he completed a comprehensive residency and a specialized vitreoretinal surgical fellowship. This prestigious training equipped him with the expertise to manage and treat a broad range of complex retinal conditions.
An active contributor to the field, Dr. Gill has authored numerous first-author publications and actively participates in cutting-edge clinical trials, with a focus on advancing the understanding and treatment of retinal diseases. His research has been presented at multiple national and international conferences, and his work was recently featured at the American Society of Retina Specialists’ Annual Meeting, further cementing his reputation as a leader in the field. His clinical interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, social determinants of health, retinopathy of prematurity, and retinal detachment.
A native of Northern California, Dr. Gill is excited to provide top-tier retinal care to the residents of Southern Oregon. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, swimming, and camping with his wife, Emily, and their 80-pound Goldendoodle, Rocky.
